Scenario:
Customer plans to use VMware ACE server to seperate two networks.
We will have the Host OS, probably Wiindows 2000 or XP Pro. Two or more Virtual Machines running Windows 2000 or XP Pro.
Problem:
How do I test the isolation of the Host OS from the Virtual Machine(s)?
I'm particularly thinking of processies in the Host OS leaking contents of memory to the VMware Virtual Machine or vice versa.
1. I had originally thought of creating a text file containing a repeating pattern in notepad in the Host OS.
2. Then dumping the contents of the Host OS ram to a file.
3. I would then dump the contents of the ram of the Virtual machine and see if I could observe the repeating pattern created in step 1.
Is this methodology sound? Would anyone have any better ideas how to test this memory leakage/contamination?
