I took a Mile2 PenTest intro class early last summer (2006). I guess
it must have been the CPTS class.
In my opinion, all the vulnerabilities exploited were "low-hanging
fruit". So low they were on the ground rotting. Some of it might
have been news in 2003, but it was more appropriately an introduction
to the history of Windows pwnage. I didn't think the certification
was worth pursuing, but pen-testing is not "my thing".
The class itself consisted of... ummm... ahhh... well, newbs. The sad
part was they were from banks, utilities, government, and the
military. Interesting horror stories, probably better left untold.
On the upside, the instructor was personable and knowledgeable.
However, he did tend to badmouth the competition (mostly SANS) at
every opportunity. Tall blond guy. I forget his name. He reminded
me of Chris Elliot.
DISCLAIMER: YMMV. They may have upgraded the coursework since then.

They provide two training courses/certifications "Certified Penetration Tester Specialist" (CPTS) & "Certified Penetration Tester Expert" (CPTE). I was wondering what others in the field thought of these courses/certifications. They don't seem to be widely recognized yet, but (is that going to change)? I took the CEH course a few years ago and was thoroughly disappointed with the content and the course all together. I was wondering if Mile2 was different.
