S 2.213 Maintenance of the technical infrastructure

Initiation responsibility: Head of Site Technical Services

Implementation responsibility: Site Technical Services

It is imperative that the maintenance intervals and provisions recommended by manufacturers are adhered to. In addition to normal maintenance, older equipment should be subjected to a more detailed inspection which enables parts that have sustained significant amounts of wear and tear to be detected and replaced in good time. This applies especially to larger engineering equipment items, for example central heating and air conditioning systems, and to equipment that is subjected to heavy mechanical load e.g. service lifts for computer centres. If necessary support should be obtained from specialist technicians.

Special loading or unusual operating conditions can result in additional maintenance requirements. For example, air filters need to be checked during and after building work at much shorter intervals than normal.
